When the Plymouth County Paving crew, including Gene Beliveau, II first came on site, they found that the Wallingford Court driveway is a fairly typical project: A builder installed pea gravel driveway that works okay until the first winter storm the the snowplows rip up much of the gravel and snow-blowers inadvertently become missile launchers. The pea gravel driveway deteriorates quickly after the first winter thaw followed by April showers.
- The expert paving crew carefully removes the contaminated pea gravel and loads it on a dump truck.
- the vibratory roller thoroughly compacts the sub-grade.
- The Bobcat accurately installs and grades the new driveway foundation with processed road gravel.
- The vibratory roller completely compacts the driveway foundation.
- The asphalt paving machine lays down the first asphalt course.
- The vibratory roller completely compacts the driveway's asphalt base.
- The asphalt paving machine lays down the second asphalt course.
- The roller compacts and smooths the final asphalt layer.
- The expert crew cleans up and loads the equipment and tools.
- The foreman checks to make sure everything is perfect.
- The paving crew places cautionary ribbon across the driveway to keep the cars off for two or three days.
- The only evidence left is a job well done, and a well done job not only looks smooth and shiny, but also drains water.
